5 Questions To Ask During A Color Consultation in Ottawa, Ontario

In the pursuit of a well painted home, one step that you’re going to need to take at some point (unless you want to just choose to get your colors picked for you by closing your eyes and picking at a random color – might work for you?) is to make the time to consider the color or colors that you’re going to want to use in the painting of the room or house.

When you want to get some help with the choosing of such colors, you may be surprised to find that there are people who can help you picking them – color consultants who know all about colors and their use in the painting and decorating process.

If you want to take advantage of a color consultation, it’s a good idea to ask your color consultant certain targeted questions that will help you find the color or colors that are best for you.

Let’s now look at and consider five questions to ask during a color consultation in Ottawa, Ontario

(Bear in mind that there are other questions that you are likely going to want to ask your color consultant, but those questions may not come to you until after you have met with your color consultant and you start working with them… and you should expect to have already paid something to your consultant before you get to ask any of these questions!)

1. What Are Factors I Should Consider When Choosing A Color

When you are looking around the room, there are so many factors that you could possibly consider when you are choosing a color or colors for the painting project.

It’s going to be a good color consultant that is going to be able to look at the room or the house being painted and tell you best the factors that you should consider when choosing a color or colors for it.

Though there are always many factors that you could take into consideration, being able to narrow it down to only a few factors is going to make the selection process that much easier.

2. When Should I Think About Wall Color During Construction?

The construction of your home or a room is going to be a long one, and you may not be aware of when would be the best time to think about the color or colors of the walls in that particular area of the house.

Though in some cases it’s good to start thinking about the color of the wall early on, there are of course times when you may want to wait until later in the construction process to make such a choice, and that’s okay.

The important thing is to pose this question to your color consultant early on so that they will be able to weigh in on the right time for you to start thinking about wall color.

3. What Ceiling Colors Would Go With This Wall Color?

Even if you are well aware of what wall colors you have, the question of what ceiling color or colors are going to be good to use is entirely different — you won’t be necessarily making use of the same color for the ceiling as the walls.

The question that you’re going to want to pose for your color consultant is what color or colors you are going to be best off using if you have a particular color or colors on the wall.

If you presume that there’s only one color that is going to be good for ceiling colors and that is plain white, you’ll be surprised by what your color consultant will tell you is good for your ceiling.

4. How Light Should I Go In This Room?

The way that your room will look is going to be heavily dependent on how dark or how light your paint color is going to be in that room.

A good color consultant will be able to look around the room, see the various sources of light that are going to come into the room, and then determine exactly how light or dark your color should be in that particular room.

It’s a good idea to ask the consultant this question because if you go with a color that is too dark in the room, it’s going to take a lot more additional light to make the room a bit brighter.

5. Should All The Rooms Have The Same Color?

Lastly, you should certainly ask your color consultant whether your rooms should all have the same color or if you should have certain rooms that have their own unique colors.

Though of course in most cases you’re not going to find too many color consultants that are going to tell you that in an entire house, all of your rooms should have the same color, it’s possible that the number of colors they suggest for your house could be a bit more limited than other houses for which they consult.
