5 Recreation Room Painting Tips To Consider in Ottawa, Ontario
There are few rooms that can be thought of as being downright fun when it comes to their paint choices, as far as the walls go, but when you think of the very essence of the room known for being the hub of recreation in your house (hence why it’s called the Recreation Room or the Rec Room) it makes good sense that there would be some fun to be had.
The thing about a rec room is that its nature means that you should try to make it into a more bright and cheerful room — and it’s good to have an idea of what you are doing when you’re in the process of painting it so that things don’t take a turn for the worse and you end up with a room that needs to be painted a second time, lest it gives off possible bad vibes as they say.
With that being the case, let’s now look at and consider five recreation room painting tips to consider in Ottawa, Ontario.
1. Use The Right Kind Of Paint
One thing you’re going to want to bear in mind when you’re painting your rec room is how very important it is for you to use the right kind of paint.
This specifically means that you should be careful firstly to use a sort of paint that is meant for the interior of your home and not, for example, the exterior of your home — that much should be clear.
You’d also do well to get a kind of paint that is easy to clean — since it’s the rec room, there may well be people coming in with the food they’re having for snacks while having fun and so you want a paint that’s easier to clean — a glossy paint, for example.
2. Choose A Paint Color Or Colors That Work For You
The rec room is going to be your area to enjoy, so you really have to most of all make use of colors (or even just one color) that speaks to you the most.
Though we would suggest that you use fun colors to suit the mood of the rec room, you are more than welcome to use any colors that make the room more fun for you.
In any case, you would likely not want to use some of the more dull colors on the color spectrum, as they might quash any hope that people could have when they’re making use of the rec room — who wants to sit down for a board game when you’re surrounded by gray walls, after all?
3. Clean The Sanding Dust
There’s an important part of the painting process in which you will be sanding the surfaces that are getting cleaned, and this is important as you want to have smooth surfaces throughout, whether you are sanding the walls gently to get them smoother or you are sanding after you’ve applied primer or the first coat of sand.
The chief issue that comes about when you sand, however, is that you are going to create sanding dust — after all, the sanding process doesn’t make surfaces smoother without some sort of dust having been created from the surface, and it’s up to you to clean that dust off of the surface before you move on to the next step in the process.
If you don’t do this, you can be pretty much assured that you will have a messier wall in the end and you are not going to like the way it looks.
4. Remove The Furniture
You can probably imagine that when you’re painting any room, having more things in the room is going to make for a more difficult painting job than not.
One thing you can remove from the room is the furniture that goes with the room — for it can be a fairly substantial source of trips and falls and cause major problems along the way as it were.
By removing the furniture you also remove the possibility of getting paint on said furniture — never a pleasant thing for your rec room.
5. Properly Ventilate While You Paint
Lastly, remember that the act of painting your rec room is going to involve a good amount of fumes and vapors and other unpleasant things in the air (dust, for example) and you shouldn’t close off the room being painted.
It’s far better to open windows wherever you can and to keep the door or doors open so that there’s a proper flow of air through the room.
That way, you will breathe more easily and the process of painting the rec room will go better.
